Spanish Dinner @ Barcelona Tapas Y Cava

Tried out the unique Spanish restaurant called Barcelona Tapas Y Cava at Warisan Square a few days ago.

Some brief Spanish lesson for the title of this restaurant:

  • Tapas: pronounced as TAH-PA, is the name for a wide variety of appetizers in Spanish cuisine
  • Y: pronounced as the letter ‘E’, is AND in English
  • Cava: pronounced as CAH-BA, is the Spanish sparkling wine

Okay, back to the review!

The inside decor..

After ordering, we received our first complimentary dishes, the Today’s Special, Sangria ‘D’ Most. It’s actually a bunch of fruits blended into this interesting drink..

The BF ordered Virgin Mary just to see what it tastes like, and I ordered Lime Colada

This is our second complimentary dish, Cheese Nuggets. The cheese is imported all the way from Spain, and in fact, we were told that all of their ingredients are imported from Spain!

This is Perinyaca, a mix of potato, tuna chunks, eggs, onion, as well as tomato in olive oil. Simple and yet, delicious dish!

Next dish that arrived is this: Gambas al Ajillo. It is basically prawn cooked in garlic oil and dried chilli. Since I love prawns, this is one of my favourite dishes!

Our main dish is this: Paella Mixta. This dish is made of the traditional Spanish yellow rice, cooked with seafood, beef, chicken, and of course, some vegetables. Delicious!

After we were all done, we got another surprise from the chef, another complimentary dessert. I had forgotten the name of it, but this is cream with sugar. Very simple dish, and yet, tasted excellent.

I was also told that a new chef will be a different one every 3 months, so you can be assured that the menu and the food preparation will surely be fresh and different! I would surely come back to this restaurant again, especially on the Opening Day!

If any of you would like to have a meal that is authentic and unique cuisine, then you should definitely try out this restaurant! The food is excellent, the decor is very apt, and Spanish music playing in the background while you dine.

The Best Fish & Chips In Town @ Fish & Co.

Quite a lot of people have told me that the best fish and chips in KK would have to be at Fish & Co. in Warisan Square. The place have been opened for quite some time now, but it was only recently that I had several chances to try it out..

Just a short detail of Fish & Co.: todate, they have 13 restaurants in Singapore, 4 in Malaysia, and 9 other franchise outlets in countries like Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Dubai, and as well as Hong Kong.

Location of Fish & Co. in KK is difficult to miss; it’s located on the Ground Floor of Warisan Square beside another eatery called La Manila.

The front of the eatery..

The inside decor..

Each person is served with these..

For starters, we ordered the Fried Calamari. Delicious!

I asked BF to have this dish. It’s actually called “The Best Fish & Chips In Town!”. That’s not too difficult to remember, is it? Check out the fries; they’re chunky and quite a generous portion of it!

Since I had what BF had the first time I came here, I had this particular dish this time around: New York Fish & Chips.

The first time I was here, a friend of mine tried this: Wrasse Piccata. Looks good, doesn’t it? Think I’ll have to try it out the next time I’m here!

The prices of the food there are very reasonable, despite the nice decor and the ‘expensive’ ambience. The place can seat up to 100 pax, but you will find the place full of people on most days. And when we went there for dinner just now, there were no seating, so we just left our phone number with the waiter, so he could just ring us when a table becomes available. And true enough, they rang us within 5 minutes!

I was also told about the energised staff singing the birthday song for the birthday boy/girl, and I witnessed it myself just now; it was really interesting as all the staff there all stopped what they were doing and gathered around the birthday person and gave her a hyped-up, toe-taping, hand-clapping rendition of the Birthday song in 3 different languages (Malay, English, and Chinese)!

So the next time you want to bring your friends or family to dine out, you should really consider going to Fish & Co. You won’t regret it! That place is yummy yummy!
