My Bad Experience @ Kedai Kopi Daily (2)
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized

Did you guys know that there is a Kedai Kopi Daily (2) in Jalan Gaya? Not only in Foh Sang guys! It’s also 24 hours, and is a WiFi Zone too! AND they serve no pork! AND their menu is extensive!
Before I go on with the bad service, let me show you guys what we ordered:

My chicken mee soup. (price: RM5)
Looks good, right? But trust me, this was bad. Oil in the soup was about an inch thick (I could see it in my bowl!), so I was only drinking oil instead of soup! Urgh! Also, despite of me asking only chicken, they also added some fish cakes inside? Okayyy…
I seriously wonder why they wanna put oil in the soup (they added it in the middle of the dish); it totally ruined it. Sans the oil though, the dish would’ve still be okay. Oh wait. The chicken tasted too much of the steel of the knife (that they used to cut it with is my guess). I just couldn’t even eat half of my food.
0/5 for this dish! Luckily it was only RM5..

This is what WC had: Chicken Paprik Fried Rice. (price: RM7.50)
Well, he asked for chicken, but once again, they also gave him seafood as well. Weird. Don’t the cook even read the orders? And, I thought Nasi Paprik is supposed to be cooked with Tomato Sauce? None for this dish, though..
But according to WC, he said this dish is delicious. Portion was a lot too! 3/5 from him. I loved the veggies.. hehe..

We also ordered this dish: Seafood Sweet & Sour dish. (price: RM7.50)
Now this dish is delicious! Worth to order the next time! Portion is just right for 2 pax too!
But okayyy… now to my bad service I had here. One of the girl first took WC’s order as I was still trying to decide what I can eat that won’t upset my tummy. So when my turn came, I was still browsing their menu, as like I’ve said before, their menu is quite extensive. After just like 5 seconds of waiting for me, the girl then started to tap her fingers on the table! A sign to tell me to hurry up! WTF! A person should never, ever do that when taking your orders, no matter how slow you are! And only for 5 seconds?? So I saw the most bland dish on the menu, which is the above mee soup, and just quickly ordered that. Sheesh.. Even WC was pissed about that.
So the point of this post: no matter if you have a restaurant or just a coffee shop, NEVER EVER TAP YOUR FINGERS ON THE TABLE TO HURRY UP THE CUSTOMERS WITH THEIR ORDERS! That is just a plain NO-NO! I mean.. wtf, right??
Sigh.. but despite the oily dish I had, I am still willing to come back there for the next time to try out their other menu. They have an extensive menu there (as I’ve mentioned before)! Just like in restaurants!
I just hope that we get a different waiter/waitress the next time around!

Japanese Dinner @ Japanese Dream Food
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized
I don’t know why, but everytime when the fiancĂ© and I go to Centrepoint, we would always end up eating at Japanese Dream Food, located at 4th floor (Palm Square). And last night was no exception.
But this time around, I ordered this:

The fried chicken set (forgot what it’s called in Japanese), for a change. (I usually order some kind of udon whenever I’m here)
It’s a simple dish, yes, but a very delicious one nontheless, thanks to the special sauce for the fried chicken! I would surely order this again during my not-too-hungry days! Side dishes tasted good too, which is always a plus!

Meanwhile, the fiancé ordered his usual, the Sashimi Set. Seriously, if you bring your appetite with you to this restaurant, you should order this Sashimi Set! No need to order any other sushi as there are a lot of many different type of sashimi inside! And I highly recommend this dish! Yummy!

Chinese Breakfast @ Shikai Restaurant
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized
This is a long overdue post, but hey, better late than never, right?
Anyway, the BF brought me along with some friends to have breakfast at Shikai Restaurant sometime back. This restaurant’s located at Asia City Complex. It’s hard not to miss because of its oriental decor.

The inside decor

The dim sum here is quite delicious; you shouldn’t miss this!

You should also try their roast duck rice. The BF said it’s one of their specialties? He would order these whenever he eats here!
I can’t seem to find the receipt for this restaurant anymore, so I’m afraid I can’t put the price up. But it’s quite reasonable.
And we found out that there is also a Shikai Restaurant branch in Gadong Brunei as well! Cool! You can read sis’s review on the Gadong restaurant on her food blog here!

Delicious Lunch @ Cafe SSAM Station
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized

The BF and I had always wanted to try this cafe all this time, but everytime we went to Wawasan Plaze to just eat here, it was close. Just our luck.
But luckily, I remembered about this place this afternoon, so I suggested to him to eat here for lunch. And it was opened! Good!

Inside of the cafe

Each table has a mini flower that looks something like this; cute decor!
Okay, on with our orders!

Hot Nok-Cha, RM1.80
It’s basically tea with slices of red dates in them. And this is the description on this special tea:
“The good thing about Nok-Cha is that it contains healthy ingredients that maintain our well-being. This anti-oxidant tea has slices of red dates that adds to its merit. This fruit will help us recover from fatigue and contains Vitamin A, B1 and B2. It’s a well-balanced ‘Ying and Yang’ drink”
And for the BF’s food, he ordered the Deluxe beef version of ‘Do Si Rak’ (you can either choose chicken, beef, or seafood). And if you’re wondering what this is dish is, here’s the description by them as well:
“The ‘Do Si Rak’ has a main dish with numerous side dishes to satisfy the appetite of anyone relishing it. Some of the side dishes menu can be changed, because we would like to serve a variety of choices for you”

This is the Deluxe Beef Do Si Rak, RM23.80
Note that the beef if not actually meat but patties, and I think that was very clever! (I should’ve ordered beef as well for my dish!)
The BF gave it 2 thumbs up! Each of the food tastes good when eaten alone as well as all at the same time!
And here’s mine:

The Regular Chicken Do Si Rak, RM13.80
Seriously, the food tasted so darn good that I even had to ask for some rice from the BF! It wasn’t enough! And although the chicken looked quite simple, it tasted very delicious actually! I finished my food in no time!
2 thumbs up for me too! So darn sedap!!
I highly recommend this place to those of you who haven’t tried it out. We’ll surely be back as well, as I wanted to try their other dishes!

Breakfast @ Pete’s Corner
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized

If you would like to have reasonably priced (well to me it’s cheap) American Breakfast (or even Lunch) at Asia City, then you should definitely go to Pete’s Corner. It’s located somewhere near the ASB (?) office.

This is the BF’s breakfast. You can add on the menu, e.g. extra bread, extra sausage, etc. This breakfast costs less than RM5.

And this is mine, with one add-on, the beef bacon. Forgot the exact price, but I know it’s less than RM5 (I think even less than RM4, maybe arond RM3.90?). Looks little to me, but was actually quite full at the end of the meal.
I’ve never had American Breakfast at a coffee shop before, so this was a first for me. Was really pleased that it was reasonably priced too. If you have never eaten at this coffeeshop before, you should really try it out.

Roasted Chicken Set @ Giant Supermarket, Wawasan Plaza
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized
One of the places where you can buy roasted chicken are at the Giant Supermarkets, and one of my particular branch that sells quite reasonably priced and good chicken is at the Wawasan Plaza branch.

At this branch, you can also sit and enjoy your food there, on the spot. You can either order a half chicken only, like this:

Or you can order the half chicken set, that comes with fries and coleslaw that looks like this:

And when you are done with your meal, you can do your grocery shopping straightaway after! How convenient is that!

Lunch @ Restoran Rasa Nyonya
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized
Had lunch with a couple of friends here recently at Restoran Rasa Nyonya. It is located on the same row as Tong Hing KK branch. This place has been around for quite some time now; I remember coming here when I was in college time, around 7 years ago. I think it’s been here much longer than that though..
Anyway, we all tried their lunch sets, quite reasonable, under RM10.
Pics!

The entrance to the restaurant

The inside

This what we had, sweet and sour fish, japanese tofu with seafood, and ginger beef. Surprisingly, they’re all very delicious!

Parking in that area during the daytime is a bit of a problem though, but even so, you should try their lunch set at least once! I haven’t tried their dinner menu in quite a while too; maybe I’ll try it one of these days. Have you tried it recently? Care to share your experience?

Spanish Dinner @ Barcelona Tapas Y Cava
Posted by JACQ | Filed under Uncategorized

Tried out the unique Spanish restaurant called Barcelona Tapas Y Cava at Warisan Square a few days ago.
Some brief Spanish lesson for the title of this restaurant:
- Tapas: pronounced as TAH-PA, is the name for a wide variety of appetizers in Spanish cuisine
- Y: pronounced as the letter ‘E’, is AND in English
- Cava: pronounced as CAH-BA, is the Spanish sparkling wine
Okay, back to the review!

The inside decor..

After ordering, we received our first complimentary dishes, the Today’s Special, Sangria ‘D’ Most. It’s actually a bunch of fruits blended into this interesting drink..

The BF ordered Virgin Mary just to see what it tastes like, and I ordered Lime Colada

This is our second complimentary dish, Cheese Nuggets. The cheese is imported all the way from Spain, and in fact, we were told that all of their ingredients are imported from Spain!

This is Perinyaca, a mix of potato, tuna chunks, eggs, onion, as well as tomato in olive oil. Simple and yet, delicious dish!

Next dish that arrived is this: Gambas al Ajillo. It is basically prawn cooked in garlic oil and dried chilli. Since I love prawns, this is one of my favourite dishes!

Our main dish is this: Paella Mixta. This dish is made of the traditional Spanish yellow rice, cooked with seafood, beef, chicken, and of course, some vegetables. Delicious!

After we were all done, we got another surprise from the chef, another complimentary dessert. I had forgotten the name of it, but this is cream with sugar. Very simple dish, and yet, tasted excellent.
I was also told that a new chef will be a different one every 3 months, so you can be assured that the menu and the food preparation will surely be fresh and different! I would surely come back to this restaurant again, especially on the Opening Day!
If any of you would like to have a meal that is authentic and unique cuisine, then you should definitely try out this restaurant! The food is excellent, the decor is very apt, and Spanish music playing in the background while you dine.
