Sunday Brunch @ Wisma Merdeka Food Court

* non halal post *

Whenever the BF and I come over to Wisma Merdeka, we would always stop over at the Wisma Merdeka food court for some munchies. And on Sunday, we went there for shopping, and it was no different. We've decided to have our brunch there.

And the stall that we went to was this:

5 Star Hainaness Chicken Rice & BBQ Pork stall

Back when Informatics was still near the Emporium, I would always come to this stall and eat with the rest of my college-mates. So for good ol' times, I ordered my Sau Nyuk Kai Farn..

How things have changed from then to now. Back then, the food portion was quite decent and worth its price. But nowadays..

It's just 5 very small slices of chicken, and same goes to the sau nyuk as well. How sad..

But luckily the wantan soup has quite a good portion on it. But even so, after I finished my meal, I still felt quite hungry..

I honestly feel that the chicken and the pork portion are getting less and less, which in my opinion shouldn't be charged at the price they were charging (RM4.50 I think). But then again, this stall's business is still booming, and I'm sure even though their customers would argue with the portion, they would still be coming to this stall back and back again..

Sotong Kangkung @ Capital Sotong

I'm not sure how many of you remember a 'sotong' stall back then (where Cathay Cineplex is now).

Back then, there was a Chinese guy who have been selling his famous sotong kangkung at the parking lot at this old, raggedy so-called stall.

But don't look down on that guy or the stall! People from all over Sabah have been buying from him for years! It doesn't matter whether they are rich people, or just normal everyday people like me, they were always willing to wait in line to buy this sotong kangkung no matter how hot the sun.

But since Cathay Cineplex have come up, I have asked so many people where have this guy gone to and continue with his business, and sadly, nobody seems to know. Until now.

Which is why I was surprised to see this banner that says 'Capital Sotong' in Foh Sang. So curiously, I went to see what they sell.

It's the same dish that the guy used to sell back then! Not sure whether it's from the same guy or not (maybe somebody just want to make their dish famous by name their stall that), but it's the same dish, and it even tasted the same!

I guess this dish will do for now. No need for me to look around anymore for the famous sotong kangkung!

Bah Kut Teh @ You Kee, Beverly Hills

* Non-halal post *

To those of you who have always wanted to go eat bah kut teh in town, but can never find any empty tables to sit on, let me give you another alternative to go to that is just as good as the ones at downtown!

Name of coffeeshop: You Kee Bah Kut Teh

Location: Beverly Hills, Jalan Bundusan.

Here, you would surely get a table, and the environment is much calmer as compared to the one downtown. You don't have to rush in finishing your food at all, which is a plus for me!

The arrangement and preparation of the bah kut tehs are the same as the ones at downtown, and even looks and tastes the same too!

See?

But sure, the crowd is not the same the ones in downtown, but I don't know about you, but that is not a problem for me at all. I don't go there to socialize, I go there to eat!

So visit You Kee the next time you want to have some Bah Kut Teh!
