Dinner @ Kedai Kopi Wah Juan, Tg. Aru

BF and I had actually wanted to go to the Ramadhan bazaar in Tanjung Aru this evening, but as usual, in the evening, we got stuck in the traffic jam. So by the time we reached Tanjung Aru, it was already 6.30pm and most of the stalls had finished selling their food!

So since we were there, BF asked me to just eat at the simple Kedai Kopi Wah Juan (facing the main highway). I didn’t mind as this is one of my favourite coffee shop here in KK!

Why do you ask? Well, this is because even though the decor and everything else is simple, the taste of the food says otherwise! They are super excellent!

What the coffee shop looks like

We ordered deep-fried squid and grilled fish, pictured below. Delicious! Beats a lot of the other restaurants in KK already!

We also ordered Ham Choy soup, and a plate of fried eggs.

When all the food came, then only we realised that we ordered a tad bit much for just the two of us! LOL!

Surprisingly, this coffee shop also automatically serves you desserts! Just like in restaurants!

So if you’re in Tanjung Aru, and would like to eat good food with a simple environment, then Kedai Kopi Wah Juan is the place to go!

Wah Juan: Is it the same towkay/cook during the day and night?

Jacq: you need to review Wan Wan Restaurant Bundusan, if u havent done so yet. Many ppl in the mornings. Also must-review are Ah Wah stall at Foh Sang (nr SAPP HQ) and the stall at the corner nearest Supertoto in Lido - always queueing with people. Wah, when I think about it, so many others actually, some examples: the shop in Inanam town which makes its own buns, people come in just for them. Then in Lintas, apart from Sihat, Salim of course (why they have 3 spots in one area) and that Chinese restaurant (forgot the name already) that’s overflowing with people in the evenings eating their dark-coloured (due to soy sauce I think) konomen.

The Umai Japanese Restaurant is located in the d’junction building.. right opposite of lido, same building as the tai tong (royal china) restaurant.
